Just when you had Singapore’s grant acronyms memorised, the alphabet moved.
PSG, EDG and MRA closed to new applications on 29 September 2026. EDGE opened on 30 September, bringing their support into one scheme. This affects Singapore businesses planning productivity upgrades, capability development or overseas expansion.
For SME owners, the question is practical: what can you fund, how much support is available, and what should happen before anyone starts sending invoices?
Key Takeaways:
- S$100,000 annual cap, shared across eligible EDGE activities.
- Up to S$30,000 within that ceiling for specified digital solutions and equipment.
- Up to 70% support for SMEs and 50% for non-SMEs, depending on activity.
- Existing PSG, EDG and MRA projects continue under their original conditions.
- Apply through the Business Grants Portal; reimbursement follows completion and full payment.
What Is The EDGE Grant?
The EDGE Grant supports new projects that upgrade capabilities, improve efficiency and expand overseas. Enterprise Singapore describes coverage across eight business areas and over 150 activities.
Instead of starting with three scheme names, businesses can look for the activity that matches their needs. Think less acronym bingo, more finding the right door.
My advice is to begin with the business problem. Are enquiries disappearing between your website and sales team? Is manual administration swallowing productive hours? Define the improvement first, then investigate funding.
What Changes From PSG, EDG And MRA?
The biggest shift is the shared annual funding ceiling. Previously, businesses navigated separate schemes with different funding structures.
| Scheme | Previous funding structure | Main focus |
| PSG | S$30,000 annual cap; up to 50% for SMEs | Pre-approved productivity solutions and equipment |
| EDG | Project-based assessment; generally up to 50% for SMEs, or 70% for sustainability | Capabilities, innovation, productivity and market access |
| MRA | S$100,000 per company per new market, with pillar limits; up to 70% for SMEs from April 2026 | Overseas promotion, business development and set-up |
| EDGE | S$100,000 per company annually; support varies by activity and business size | Eligible upgrading, efficiency and overseas activities |
These are scheme-level comparisons. Your approved scope, eligible costs and applicable rate determine the actual funding. Applications remain on BGP, accessed through the relevant EDGE activity pages.
The S$100,000 Annual Cap Explained:
The cap covers total grant support across eligible activities per company. Each funding year runs from 1 April to 31 March, with the allowance refreshed annually.
That makes prioritisation important. A shiny new tool should earn its place alongside market expansion or capability development.
Within the overall ceiling, up to S$30,000 can support single-function digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems and pre-scoped equipment.
This does not create a S$130,000 allowance. Nor should every digital project be assumed to fall into the same category. Check the selected activity’s restrictions before building your budget.
Support Levels And Cash Flow:
The headline 70% should never become a blanket assumption. Funding percentages apply to eligible costs and vary by activity.
| Business area | SMEs: up to | Non-SMEs: up to |
| Automation & Digitalisation | 50% | 30% |
| Business Strategy | 50% | 30% |
| Financial Management | 50% | 30% |
| Innovation | 50% | 30% |
| Internationalisation | 70% | 50% |
| Standards | 50% | 30% |
| Sustainability | 70% | 50% |
For example, S$20,000 in eligible costs at 50% support could receive S$10,000, assuming approval and sufficient cap availability.
EDGE reimburses approved expenditure after activity completion and full payment. Your cash-flow plan therefore needs to cover the project upfront, including expenditure outside the approved scope.
Already Applied Under PSG, EDG Or MRA?
Applications submitted before 30 September 2026 continue to be assessed under their original scheme’s requirements. Ongoing projects remain supported through completion and claim disbursement.
You do not need to start over. Keep your approval letter, deliverables, invoices and payment records organised, and follow the original conditions carefully.
How To Check If Your Project Fits EDGE:
Run through these five questions before requesting a proposal:
1. Is your business registered in Singapore?
2. Does it have at least 30% Singaporean or permanent-resident ownership?
3. Is this a new project that has not started?
4. Have you avoided making payments or paying deposits before applying?
5. Does the scope match an eligible EDGE activity?
Five yeses are a good starting point. Additional activity and vendor requirements still apply, including for non-SMEs.
Use Enterprise Singapore’s activity list and the BizSG grant recommender to narrow your options. Prepare a brief covering the current problem, proposed work, deliverables, costs and measurable outcomes. Hours saved or a defined market-entry objective says more than “we want to go digital”.
Why Early Planning Matters:
Work must not begin, and payments or deposits must not be made, before application submission. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval, so commitments made before approval carry a financial risk.
Choose your scope and vendor carefully: changes to approved projects are limited. Some activities require pre-approved providers; others allow vendor selection subject to specified requirements.
Your company’s authorised staff must submit applications and claims through BGP. Vendors cannot submit them on your behalf. Assign responsibility early and keep documentation accessible to both project and finance teams.
How RHAD Can Help:
At RHAD, we connect marketing strategy, websites and automation around business outcomes.
Potential areas to assess include:
- Marketing: brand and market-entry strategy against relevant Business Strategy or Internationalisation activities.
- Websites: functional development or integrations against suitable digitalisation activities; a visual refresh alone should not be assumed eligible.
- Automation: CRM integration, HubSpot workflows and process improvements against relevant Automation & Digitalisation activities.
However, these are starting points for matching your project to EDGE, with funding eligibility subject to the specific activity and vendor requirements.
Conclusion: Make The Upgrade Count
A grant works hardest when the project solves something expensive, slow or frustrating. At RHAD, we can help clarify that problem and shape a practical marketing or technology brief.
Whether you need sharper positioning, a website that works harder or automation that gives your team precious hours back, we start with the outcome. Let’s assess how your plans align with EDGE and build a clear path ahead.
