To optimise your website for local SEO in Singapore, you need to give Google clear proof of where you are and who you serve. That means location keywords, dedicated area pages, LocalBusiness schema, a fast mobile site and consistent contact details.
This guide walks through the 8 website fixes we use in RHAD’s local SEO audits, with a checklist at the end. It focuses on your website. For Google Business Profile and reviews, see our complete guide to local SEO in Singapore.
Key takeaways:
- Google ranks local results on three factors: relevance, distance and prominence (Google). Your website shapes relevance and prominence.
- Build one useful page per area or service you serve, not thin copies with a swapped place name.
- Add LocalBusiness schema and keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere.
- Hit Google’s Core Web Vitals targets: LCP under 2.5s, INP under 200ms, CLS under 0.1.
- Track calls, direction requests and form fills, not just rankings.
From our work: For a Singapore money lender, RHAD improved local SEO through location page optimisation, NAP consistency, and structured data implementation. The client grew organic visibility by 108% in 3 months.
What Does Local SEO Mean For Your Website?
Local SEO is the work of getting your business found by people searching near you, for example “accounting firm Tanjong Pagar” or “aircon servicing near me”. These searches show a map pack and local organic results, and increasingly an AI Overview.
Most advice focuses on your Google Business Profile. But your website is what Google checks to confirm that your profile is legitimate and relevant. A weak site holds your profile back.
In a dense city like Singapore, dozens of competitors often sit within one MRT stop of you. Clear, location-specific signals on your website help you stand out.
Step 1: Research Singapore Location Keywords
Start with how your customers actually search. Singaporeans often search by neighbourhood, MRT station, HDB town or postal district rather than just “Singapore”.
- Service + area: “physiotherapy Bishan”, “wedding florist Orchard”
- Service + landmark: “cafe near Raffles Place MRT”
- “Near me” and intent terms: “24 hour plumber near me”, “best dentist in Tampines”
Use Google Search Console, Semrush or Google Keyword Planner to check volume. Then map one primary keyword to each page. Our guide to local keyword research covers the process in detail.

Step 2: Optimise Title Tags, Meta Descriptions And Headers
Put your service and location in the places Google reads first.
| Element | Weak | Strong |
|---|---|---|
| Title tag | Home | ABC Dental | Family Dentist In Tampines | ABC Dental Clinic |
| Meta description | Welcome to our clinic. | Gentle family dental care near Tampines MRT. Open weekends. Book online in 60 seconds. |
| H1 | Our Services | Dental Services In Tampines |
Keep titles under about 60 characters and descriptions under about 155. Use the location once, naturally. Repeating “Singapore” in every sentence reads as spam to both users and Google.
Step 3: Build Location And Service-Area Pages
If you serve several areas, or have more than one outlet, give each its own page. A strong location page includes:
- The full address, opening hours and an embedded Google Map
- Directions from the nearest MRT station and parking details
- Photos of that specific outlet and team
- Reviews or case studies from customers in that area
- Services and prices specific to that location, if they differ
Avoid doorway pages. Ten pages that only swap “Jurong” for “Bedok” can hurt you. Each page needs content that is unique to that place.

Step 4: Add LocalBusiness Schema Markup
Schema markup tells search engines your business type, address, phone, hours and service area in a format they can read directly. It supports rich results and helps AI tools describe your business accurately.
Use the most specific type available, such as Dentist, LegalService or Restaurant, rather than generic LocalBusiness. At minimum, include name, address, telephone, openingHoursSpecification, geo and url.
Follow Google’s LocalBusiness structured data guidelines and test with the Rich Results Test. Learn more in our post on structured data.

Step 5: Make Your Site Fast And Mobile-First
Most local searches happen on a phone, often on the move. A slow page loses the visitor before they see your address.
Aim for Google’s Core Web Vitals “good” thresholds (web.dev):
| Metric | What it measures | Good |
|---|---|---|
| Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) | Loading speed | ≤ 2.5 s |
| Interaction to Next Paint (INP) | Responsiveness | ≤ 200 ms |
| Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) | Visual stability | ≤ 0.1 |
Quick wins: compress images to WebP, lazy-load images below the fold, and cut unused plugins. Also make your phone number tap-to-call and put the “Get directions” button above the fold on mobile.
Step 6: Keep Your NAP Consistent Across The Website
NAP means your business Name, Address and Phone number. Google cross-checks it between your website, your Business Profile and directories. Mismatches weaken trust.
- Use one exact format everywhere, e.g. “#05-12, 10 Anson Road, Singapore 079903”. Don’t switch between “Rd” and “Road”.
- Show NAP in the footer of every page and on the contact page, as text rather than an image.
- Use a local +65 number and include the 6-digit postal code.
- Match it exactly with your Google Business Profile and listings such as Yellow Pages Singapore.
Step 7: Connect Your Website To Local Signals
Your website should reinforce the signals Google collects elsewhere:
- Google Business Profile: link the profile to the matching location page, not just your homepage. Add UTM tags so you can track it in GA4.
- Reviews: show real Google reviews on relevant pages, and link to your profile so happy customers can leave one.
- Local links: earn local backlinks safely from Singapore business associations, event sponsorships, suppliers and local media.
- Industry directories: get listed where your customers look, such as HungryGoWhere and Burpple for F&B, or PropertyGuru for real estate.
Step 8: Prepare For AI Overviews And AI Search
Local answers now appear in Google’s AI Overviews and in assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity. These tools pull from pages that answer questions clearly.
- Answer common questions directly on your pages (prices, hours, areas served, how long it takes).
- Use question-style headings and short, factual answers.
- Keep schema and NAP accurate so AI tools describe you correctly.

Common Local SEO Website Mistakes To Avoid
1. Creating near-identical location pages for areas you don’t really serve
2. Stuffing “Singapore” or area names into every sentence
3. Showing your address only as an image, which Google can’t read
4. Using a different phone number on the website than on Google Business Profile
5. Leaving an old address on the site after moving outlets
6. Linking your Business Profile to a slow or irrelevant page
How To Measure Your Local SEO Results
Rankings are only part of the picture. Track the actions that lead to revenue:
| Metric | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Calls, direction requests and website clicks | Google Business Profile Performance |
| Clicks and impressions for local queries | Google Search Console (filter queries by area names) |
| Organic sessions and conversions on location pages | GA4 |
| Local pack position by area | Semrush Position Tracking or a local rank grid tool |
Review these monthly. Then improve the pages that get impressions but few clicks.
